I’m afraid in our current tradition, eating actual, unprocessed food more often than not is simply not the norm, and that may make it tougher for lots of children (particularly those like my son and your daughter) growing up now to make healthy choices.
It’s comforting to know we’re not alone in our struggles, though I wish I knew of someone locally who understood what it is like to raise a food obsessed youngster in what I think is a pretty unhealthy food culture, as a result of there are days when it is overwhelming.
